Looking for some new ways to use Bisquick? Try these amazing and unique Bisquick recipes. Everything from muffins to main dishes.

collage of dishes using bisquick

Bisquick is something most of us have had in our homes at some point. I remember it mostly being used for pancakes growing up and it wasn’t until I got married and started looking for new recipes that I found how much it could be used for.

Bisquick actually has a really interesting history. It started when a General Mills salesman in the 1930s was on a train and was shocked to see how quickly a chef made him hot biscuits.

The chef showed him the mix of lard, flour, baking powder, and salt that he had made ahead of time so he could make biscuits to order.

This was an era before cake mixes and all the different package mixes and foods we have now. It was a rather new and fascinating concept.
Smith recognized this could be a very popular baking product and took the idea to General Mills. It took them some time to get the product right and it’s changed a bit over time but the idea is the same.

It didn’t take long for homemakers to see the potential with Bisquick and started making a lot more than just biscuits. Today there are hundreds of recipes out there using the iconic mix.

I now make my own homemade Bisquick because I prefer using organic ingredients and butter in place of the oils. Plus making it fresh means I don’t need all the additives.

It doesn’t matter if you decide to use Bisquick or make my homemade Bisquick, these recipes are delicious and simple. The homemade version is used in the same way as original Bisquick so it’s an easy substitute.
