Want to save more money on your groceries? There are several apps that can help. It’s a great way to use your phone to save you money.

Most of us are basically glued to our phones these days. While often they are a distraction they are also useful. I love all the ways they help me save money, especially on groceries.

I was doing pretty well staying on a budget for groceries but the last couple of years I’ve reduced how much I spend on most grocery shopping trips by around 25%, sometimes even more. And this is after I thought I was already doing a good job!

One thing I’ve done that has helped is using some apps on my phone. A few give cashback and some save you money upfront. They are all easy to use and you are sure to love them as well.

Grocery Store Apps

Many groceries stores now have their own apps which have sale ads and coupons. Instead of having to print coupons you just save them in the app and scan your phone at check out. It’s so much easier than dealing with paper coupons and you are less likely to forget to use them.

Rebate Apps

Rebate apps give you cashback on things you buy. Most have you scan items or buy through the app. You can get a lot back with these apps. It’s basically free money.

  • Ibotta– Ibotta gives your rebates for items you buy. You can shop online, submit receipts, or link loyalty cards. They change which products you can get rebates on all the time so just check before you go shopping.
  • Fetch Rewards– This is my favorite cashback app because it’s so easy. You simply scan a receipt and you get points no matter what you buy, you can get more if you buy select items but you will always get something.
  • Ebates– Ebates can be used on your computer or your phone. It’s not just for groceries but there are some grocery stores that offer coupons and/or cashback on the site. Most of the time it’s only online purchases but so many of us are buying more food online so this can still be helpful. You also get $10 back just for signing up and making your first purchase.

I like to check the apps before I shop or make my list to see if there are good deals I should be taking advantage of. This can help me plan cheaper meals.

Once I finish shopping I scan my receipts to the apps that had deals I wanted to use and collect the cashback. Most payout around $20 so it really doesn’t take all that many deals to reach the payout.

I’ve gotten the most from Ibotta and I think it’s my favorite, so if you are only going to try one that would be my recommendation. But don’t forget to download the grocery store apps for all the places you shop. You want to use those coupons.

I haven’t had too much luck with Ibotta because I very rarely (if ever) buy any of the products they have on there, but I’ve been meaning to check out BerryCart! 😀

Cool! I’m still sad that EcoBonus didn’t work out (a natural products loyalty program/app that I worked for) but I’m going to check out BerryCart!

I really need to download all of these and really try them out. I have some others that were recommended to me but I never check them or use them.

Whole Foods has a good app if you shop there, you can set a home store and it will show you what is on sale that week.
