Want to skip going to the grocery store? Use Instacart and right now try out Instacart contactless drop-off for safe and easy grocery shopping.

Right now is the time to stay home, which a few weeks ago kind of sounded nice. Things are pretty stressful now and even the simple thought of getting groceries can bring on anxiety.

Grocery shopping has never been my idea of fun in general but it never was something I found terribly stressful. Now I will do everything I can to stay out of the grocery store.

Thankfully we have some options that can help. There are more and more delivery options now and one that is pretty widely available, even in my small rural town, is Instacart.

And the best thing about Instacart right now is you can use an option to get your groceries without ever having to see a single person. Your shopper simply leaves your groceries on your porch.

I’ve tried this service out twice now and wanted to share my thoughts as well as how you can use the service if you haven’t used it before.

How to Use Instacart Contactless

  1. Sign up and make sure the service is available in your area.
  2. Set up your account and payment method.
  3. Choose the store you want to shop from.
  4. Fill your cart with the items you would like.
  5. Select your delivery time.
  6. When at checkout be sure to select the “Leave at My Door Delivery” option. This will let your shopper know you want the groceries left on your porch. They will still ring the doorbell but just ignore it and they will send you a photo confirmation.
  7. Check out and wait for the notification that your groceries are being picked up.

Another thing I suggest is making sure you have notifications on so it will let you know when your groceries are being shopped for and your shopper will let you know if they are making a substitution. You can chat with your shopper and let them know if you don’t like a substitution so something else can be picked or you can just skip that item.

My Review of Instacart

I’ve gotten two orders from my local Aldi and everything has gone well. I didn’t know the first time that notifications weren’t on by default so I missed a substitution that didn’t really work for me but it wasn’t a big deal.

I really love the contactless option and it’s been a lifesaver during this time. We haven’t needed much since we tend to stay pretty stocked and we stocked up on food before this all started to hit but there have been a few things.

I still prefer doing my own grocery shopping. I like to be able to look for sales and make changes while shopping to save money. Plus I don’t mind grocery shopping.

I will keep using this option for now and will in the future sometimes when I just don’t want to go out for groceries. It would be great for anyone that is at high risk during any cold and flu season.

Overall, if you are trying to avoid grocery stores right now I highly recommend trying Instacart. Don’t forget to use the “Leave at My Door Delivery” option.

I had not heard of Instacart before. I am using Shipt right now to get things from Target, although usually a third of the things I order are not available at the store.
