Winter is here, even if it’s not your favorite season you can still find enjoyment during winter. These vintage housewife-inspired winter must-haves are my favorites!

Tea on tray and sweater in from of snowing winte

Here in Oklahoma, we don’t tend to have very extreme winters but we do usually have some cold spells. I don’t mind cold weather but I do like to be prepared with some things that help make the winter cozier.

While doing seasonal cleaning vintage housewives also would have been thinking about these kinds of things. It would be a time to stock up the home and pull out winter bedding and winter clothing.

While the items on my winter must-haves list are modern they still have a vintage feel to them and many are likely similar to the things vintage housewives would have used to enjoy the winter more as well.

Vintage Housewife Winter Must-Haves

These winter must-haves will make anyone feel like a vintage housewife in no time and help you enjoy your winter even more!

Vintage-Inspired Coat

I have two beautiful vintage coats but I'd also love a vintage-inspired version like this one from ModCloth. This style is perfect over dresses.

Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix

A cup of hot chocolate is perfect for a cold winter night and this homemade mix is easy to whip up.

Handmade Scented Soy Candles

Lighting some scented candles can help make your home feel more inviting. My favorite is the Cider 'N Chill candle from OK Collective.

Seasonal Scented Cleaning Products

I love having seasonal cleaning products. It makes cleaning a bit nicer. Mrs. Meyer’s always has great seasonal scents for their cleaners. I love to use Apple Cider or Peppermint in the colder months. You can get a free 4-piece Mrs. Meyer’s set from Grove Collaborative. It’s my favorite set.

Hand Cream

You will find a lot of vintage ads talking about women needing to protect their hands and that is of course still a good idea. Winter can be very drying so a good hand cream is a must! It's fun to find one with a vintage feel but any will do.

Cozy Robe

A several years ago my husband bought me a cozy robe from Pottery Barn. I basically live in it during the winter months. It keeps me nice and warm. Any warm robe will work but I do highly recommend the Pottery Barn faux fur robe. I wear it all of the time and it still looks perfect.

Classic Cardigan

Cardigans are perfect for layering or to help you stay warm at home. I have built a large collection of cardigans over the years and continue to add to it.

Boots

If you like to wear dresses in the winter some cute boots are a must. These have a vintage feel and come in a few colors.

Hand Knitted Scarf

A classic knit scarf is a good thing to have on hand for cold days. Etsy is a great place to look for beautiful hand knitted scarves.

Warm Gloves

I like to have a few different glove options and these faux fur gloves are a great vintage-inspired option to keep you warm.

I know, right? Put on the socks, grab a cup of hot chocolate and a quilt and curl up in front of a Christmas movie. 🙂

When I lived in colder climes a good chapstick and hand lotion were SO essential! I love that there are so many natural candle options these days. Thanks for the recommendations.

We don’t have very severe or long winters or I think I’d get tired of it pretty fast.
