Hosting parties can be a great experience but it can also be stressful. Basic Invite has been kind enough to sponsor this post to help bring you tips on hosting a stress-free party.

One of the things I wanted when we were looking at new houses was room to entertain people. Our old house had a tiny kitchen and small living room that was laid out very poorly. While our new home is smaller it uses the space much better and the space we have works better for our needs.

Even when you space works well for hosting people parties can be stressful. There can be a lot to do and we often put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be perfect.

All year we have great reasons for parties but with the holidays coming up these reasons increase. And the last thing you need during the holiday season is stress.

No matter what the reason for the party you can reduce stress and have a wonderful party. You don’t just want your guests to have a good time, you should get to enjoy it as well.

Be Realistic

I’m great at coming up with amazing plans, not as good about making sure that the plan is realistic. Consider how much time you really have and also what kind of budget you have.

Be sure to include extra time and money for things that could pop-up. If you end up with extra time or money at the end then you can do something extra but you don’t want to come up short.

Have a Plan

to-do list and party invite

Don’t just have an idea in your head, write down your plan. What food you want to make when things need to be done by, who you are inviting, and so on.

Trying to keep all of this in your head can lead to missed details and unnecessary stress. Writing your plan out can also help you make sure you really are being realistic.

Order Your Invites Online

If you are sending invites to your party consider ordering them online. It can save time over searching around the store and you can get them customized so you can spend less time writing in information.

A great place to order invitations is Basic Invite. They have beautiful invitations for all occasions. Everything from birthday party invitations, holiday party invitations, to quinceanera invitations.

Use their invitation maker to make totally customized invitations. You can change the colors on each element on the card and there are over 180 different colors. You can also get custom samples to make sure it’s just what you wanted.

Another big time-saving bonus is its free address collection service. Use the free address collection service to request your addresses with just three simple steps. Share a link, collect addresses, and get free envelope printing. Imagine all the time saved on writing addresses on all of the envelopes. I wish this had been around when I was getting married.

Use Pinterest With Care

I love Pinterest, there is a good chance you even got to this post from Pinterest, but it has its downfalls. I know sometimes when search Pinterest I can come up with some pretty grand ideas. I don’t always have the time or resources for these ideas.

Don’t overwhelm yourself with all the great ideas out there. Pick and choose a couple of things that you really can pull off. Don’t go crazy thinking this party has to be Pinterest perfect. Little inside knowledge, bloggers aren’t having Pinterest perfect parties all the time either.

Take Short-Cuts

I’ll admit I went through an “everything has to be homemade” phase. That is a stressful phase to go through. When I started having some health issues and knew I needed to reduce my stress level I knew that plan had to go.

I still love cooking and baking from scratch and do it as much as possible, but I’m willing to take shortcuts when needed. It’s not something to feel guilty about. We can’t do it all and that’s okay.

Look at your menu and to-do list and see if there are some short-cuts you can take. Maybe you really don’t have time to make cupcakes from scratch, see if there is a local bakery that can instead. Even if you want to avoid things like dyes you can often find an option that will work. Many bakeries even will make gluten-free options if that’s needed.

Learning when compromises are worth it is a valuable skill. It’s really helped my stress level which has been good for my overall health. I also have had no complaints and none of my friends have judged me for not being the perfect homemaker all the time.

Visit Basic Invite for more information on creating custom invites that will save you time and stress.
