This winter has seemed very long and I’m ready for spring! Spring also means it’s time to start some spring cleaning. I made a new spring cleaning checklist to make it easier to know what you should spring clean and keep everything organized. 

Over the years I’ve started using a 1940s spring cleaning routine and it really helps make it all easier. The routine is spread out over weeks so you are never having to spend too much time on your spring cleaning which can be overwhelming.

What to include in a spring cleaning?

There are many tasks you may want to include on your spring cleaning checklist. I find it easiest to group things by room so here are some ideas for things to add to your spring cleaning checklist.

Closets

• Organize Apparel
• Dust Shelves
• Wipe Down Baseboards
• Toss or Donate Unused Items
• Tidy Jewelry
• Vacuum

Bathrooms

• Clean counters and sink
• Clean out drawers and cabinets
• Wash windows and mirrors
• Unclog/clean the drain
• Deep clean shower
• Wash shower curtain and bath mats
• Scrub the toilet and tub
• Take out trash
• Vacuum
• Mop

Dining Room

• Dust ceiling fans and blinds
• Dust tables, chairs, and vents
• Wipe down baseboards
• Clean windows
• Dust furniture
• Organize decor
• Shake out the area rug or have cleaned
• Vacuum

Living Room

• Dust vents, fans, tabletops
• Clean curtains, windows
• Wipe down baseboards

Depending on your home you may need to do all of these things, just some, and you may need to add other things to your list. Think of things in your house you don’t regularly clean and add those to your list.

When should I do a spring clean?

Some people like to start spring cleaning at the end of winter so the house is clean and ready to go once spring gets here. Others, like it to start to warm up before they start spring cleaning.

There really is no right or wrong time to start spring cleaning. Spring cleaning can also be done for every season to get those seasonal tasks done often.

How do you prepare for spring cleaning?

Being prepared for spring cleaning can help make the whole process a lot easier. There are many things you want to stock up on. Here are some supplies it’s good to have on hand.

• Stainless steel cleaner
• All-purpose cleaner
• Shower and tile cleaner
• Toilet cleaner
• Mop and mopping solution
• Bucket
• Broom
• Paper towels
• Rags or sponges
• Laundry baskets
