I love fresh flowers in my home. It makes it look beautiful and more like a home to me. I often pick up a bouquet or two when at the grocery store, Trader Joe’s is my favorite grocery store for flowers.

You can get a bouquet of tulips at Trader Joe’s for around $10 most of the time. They usually have many colors to choose from and are great for pairing with other flowers or alone.

I usually just stick my tulips in a vase and call it a day but my friend Bethany of Making it Modern has 3 fun ways to arrange tulips that will give you even more great ideas.

How to Arrange Tulips

Be sure to check out her video and the lovely arrangement ideas. They are simple yet beautiful and don’t require any special skills.

I love the idea of the fishbowl which would be great as a tablescape. I’ve also been on the hunt for a vintage pitcher to use as a vase after seeing Bethany’s arrangement. I have an aqua kitchen so an aqua pitcher with red tulips would look so good in my kitchen.

Keep Tulips Fresh & Upright

Be sure to keep the tulips in freshwater, change it each day, keep them out of direct sunlight, and snip the stems every 3 days.

You also want to be sure to choose the right vase. Avoid vases that curve outwards at the top and try to keep them in a vase that is tall enough to support them.

There is also an old-fashion trick of putting a penny made prior to 1981 in the vase. I have tried this several times and it seems to help. Who knows if it really does but it can’t hurt.

I will say you also need to keep them out of the heat. I tried to bring some home after a long trip to Oklahoma City and the heat did them in before I could even get them home. I will be waiting for cooler weather or buying them closer to home during the warm weather.
