Take a fun trip to the past with this vintage Halloween party menu. It’s straight out of the 1950s and filled with Halloween kitsch and vintage charm.

One of my favorite things is the little cookbooks brands put out in the mid-century to promote their products. I collect these and they are so much fun to look at. They are often filled with unhinged suggestions that I doubt many housewives were actually following.
Now we just have brands with websites and recipes using their products or they sponsor blog posts and have bloggers create recipes for them (hey brands, want some unhinged vintage style recipes using your products? Hit me up!). This is fine and all but let’s bring back the cookbooks.
I came across one recently that I had to share. It wasn’t so much a cookbook as a Halloween party planning book and let me tell you, it’s pretty unhinged by today’s standards. It also included a Halloween party menu and that’s the main thing I want to share with you. I hope you enjoy this look at the past as much as I did.
Vintage Halloween Party Menu

This menu comes from the Weeny Witch Halloween Party Book which was published in 1951 by the Klarer Skinless Health Wiener company. Yes, you read all of that right. It’s interesting how much language has changed since the 1950s.
Also what is a health wiener? I can’t find anything to tell me why these were healthier than any other hot dog. Also be careful if you google health wiener…
This book mostly contained silly little game suggestions, let me know if you’d like me to share those as well, images you could cut out for decoration, and masks, which honestly are terrifying.
Now for the Halloween party menu suggestions included in the book.
Weeny Witch Party Menu
And yes, that is the name of the menu. They really wanted to stick with this theme.
- Hot Dogs (Grilled or Steamed)
- Hot Dog Rolls
- Olives
- Mustard
- Relish
- Potato Chips
- Jack-O-Lantern Carrots
- Donuts
- Ice Cream
- Cake
- Apple Cider
This is pretty typical of a vintage menu from the 1950s. They often gave very few details or even recipes. It does appear from the photo in the book that they didn’t do anything to the hot dogs, just served them warm.
Vintage Halloween Party Table Decorations

The book also shared suggestions for the table which included cutting out vintage designs from the book. You can find some similar vintage Halloween die cuts on Etsy.
From the book – “Table decorations help make the Weeny Witch party more fun for all concerned. The centerpiece suggested in the picture is both attractive and appetizing. Tender skinless winers on a platter decorated with parsley, carrots made to look like miniature pumpkins with clove faces, and cutouts from the Weeny Witch Party Book.”
This could be a fun party to have with friends. Everyone could dress in 1950s style Halloween costumes and watch some vintage Halloween movies. Get creative and make it a unique Halloween party everyone is sure to remember.
You can make the planning easier by using my Halloween planner. It’s printable so you can start using it right away to plan your own vintage Halloween party.
