Try adding some vintage charm to your Easter meal with one of these vintage Easter dessert recipes. They are all delicious recipes passed down through generations.

In many ways, Easter still looks similar today as it did back in the 1950s. Looking at the homemaking magazines of the day you’ll find articles talking about making the best ham and other delicious food.

Just like we now look to Pinterest for inspiration for fun Easter desserts they looked to magazines. They were filled with recipes and many were a bit over the top, which we still love to save but not actually make.

You’d also find the more simple but still delicious-sounding Easter dessert recipes. I’d venture a guess that they usually made the simpler desserts and not the cakes made to look like bunnies and other desserts that were very time-consuming. These retro housewives had other important things to do like dying Easter eggs and picking out Easter hats.

My suspicions seem to be confirmed by the vintage Easter dessert recipes other bloggers shared with me. These are the recipes they’ve had passed down to them and there isn’t a bunny cake anywhere on the list.

There are some amazing-sounding desserts though! While they are perfect for Easter you could make them all spring. Be sure to add any you want to try to your Easter planner.
