Want to enjoy the fun of an old-fashioned soda shop at home? These old-fashioned soda shop recipes can help!

Soda fountains started in the mid 1800s as pharmacies where the concoctions were medicines to help people with different ailments.
Overtime they started adding milkshakes and other drinks. By the 1920s most drugstores had a soda fountain and due to prohibition they became a fun place to socialize. You can read more about their history from Pharmacy Times.

For many of us the soda shop makes us think of the 1950s and they were popular at that time. In my town during my childhood we had a pharmacy that still had a soda fountain. These days you don’t see them very often.
That’s part of why I now make them from home and I love to share the recipes I recreate here on the site. I keep adding more and this will be where you can find all of them to try for yourself.
