All-natural lemon soft scrub is a great product for cleaning many surfaces in your home. It’s also very safe to use around your kids and pets.
I love my vintage home but with a vintage home comes challenges. One of those is old sinks and tubs that have lost there finish can be hard to keep clean.
I have a white vintage sink in the kitchen, pink vintage sink in one bathroom, a yellow vintage sink in the other, and a vintage pink tub. I enjoy the style of all of them but the clean not so much.
No one wants to spend a lot of time and effort scrubbing sinks and tubs. Well, at least I don’t think anyone does if you enjoy that let me know and we can work out some deal.
Instead of putting in all the time and effort using the right product for the job helps. Soft scrubs are great for getting rid of soap scum and other build-ups that can happen in sinks and tubs. The only problem is the ingredients in many of these products are less than ideal.
Even if you rinse well you don’t want to risk any residue sticking around and getting on your skin when in the bath or on your food in your sink.
The answer is making your own soft scrub. Even if you aren’t a fan of making your own cleaners this one is super simple and effective. I promise.
Soft Scrub Ingredients
This soft scrub uses just three simple ingredients. It will cost you under $2 to make this product and you can trust that it’s safe.
Baking soda is a green cleaning must-have. It’s cheap and can multitask like no other. It’s in my favorite brownie recipe and also cleans and deodorizes my home. For this recipe, it’s the abrasive properties we are after. I just buy the store brand of baking soda but you can also order it from Amazon.
Castile Soap
This is another multi-tasker you need in your life. It can be used for an endless list of things. I personally use it for dish soap, to wash my dog, as an all-purpose cleaner, and whatever else I need a gentle soap for. For this recipe, it helps clean and breaks up any oils. Dr. Bronner’s is my favorite brand. For this recipe, I prefer the citrus scent but I’ll use whatever I have on hand. When I made it this time, you’ll see in the photos, I used peppermint.
Lemon Essential Oil
This is really optional but highly recommended. It mostly provides the scent, which is lovely, but it also can help deodorize the surface you are cleaning. I love citrus essential oils for cleaning because they smell very clean and fresh.
