Halloween isn’t just for kids. Get into the Halloween spirit with a date night at home. It’s a fun way to celebrate with your partner and make time for each other.

I have planned a lot of Christmas date nights in the past but just recently got into planning Halloween date nights. Staying home more recently has made it a really fun way to celebrate.

These are some of my favorite Halloween date nights and all are very easy to plan so even if you are reading this close to Halloween you still have time.

Murder Mystery Night

Work together to solve a murder using Hunt A Killer. It’s a subscription box that gives you all you need to investigate and solve a murder.

This is one of my all-time favorite game nights because it’s fun, and you also can learn to work together and communicate. You could also use this for a double date. This could even be done virtually. Each couple can get a box and you can work in teams and meet on Zoom to see who gets it right.

Spooky Movie Night

My husband and I make a point of watching a lot of Halloween movies together during September and October. Usually, if I’m picking we end up watching a Disney movie like Hocus Pocus, and if he picks it’s something scary.

Right now would be a great time to get a free trial of Paramount Plus. It’s one of the newer subscription services and has a ton of great movies and tv shows. Plans start at just $4.99 a month so for less than one movie ticket you can have unlimited movie nights at home.

Use my free Halloween movie list printable to make a list of all the movies you want to watch during the Halloween season. Sign up below to get the printable.

Make Dinner Together

Cooking together is always a great date night idea. It works well because it’s a little easier to fit into your schedule since you need dinner anyway.

Turn on a Halloween music playlist and cook a Halloween-themed dinner or just make a normal dinner. You can even use a meal subscription box to make it really easy. My favorite meal subscription box is Blue Apron.

You could also combine this with a movie night and make a Halloween-themed movie snack together. Bonus points if the treat fits with the movie you watch.

Halloween Game Night

Get a spooky board game to play together. There are some fun Halloween games on Amazon that you can get to play throughout the season.

You could also play a normal board game and play for Halloween candy to make it a bit more festive.

Decorate a Halloween Gingerbread House

As a huge fan of Christmas, I love the new trend of making gingerbread houses for Halloween. My husband and I made one using a Halloween cookie house kit. They have different flavors and styles out there so you can find the perfect one for your date night.

Or you can make a homemade Halloween gingerbread house like the one in the photo above! If you want to eat your Halloween house, homemade is the way to go.

Carve or Paint Pumpkins Together

Grab a couple of pumpkins and get creative with this date night. You can work together or have a contest. Text some friends and have them pick who had the best pumpkin.

This is a fun date night that will leave you with some cute Halloween decor for your porch. Go ahead and get your supplies so you are ready for this fun date night.

Plan Your Halloween Date Night

If you don’t plan and get your Halloween date night on the calendar it’s not going to happen. You’ll keep putting it off and before you know it October has come and gone.

You can also plan your Halloween date nights in a Halloween planner. I created one that is a digital download so you can start using it right away.

Use notes pages in the planner to brainstorm ideas and make lists of supplies you’ll need. It’s a great way to be organized. If you want to use the ideas again the next year it’s ready to go.
