Don’t fall into the frumpy fashion hole, stay fashionable this winter without a lot of effort. It is possible and you can still be comfortable. This post is sponsored by Coupons.com.

I’ve talked about how when you stay at home during the day it’s easy to just stay in yoga pants all day, especially during the winter.

I made suggestions for great at home, cute but comfy outfits but what about when you want to go out? It’s important to leave the house from time to time. One thing I make a priority is date nights with my husband and I like to look nice for those nights.

I find it a bit harder during the winter months to look nice. You can’t just throw on a dress unless you live somewhere warm. I’m in Oklahoma and it’s still often too cold for just a dress.

Over the last several years of trying to look more fashionable and not just wear jeans or yoga pants all of the time, I’ve learned some tips and I thought I’d share them with you.

Easy Tips for Looking Fashionable This Winter

Stock Up on Basics

For me, winter basics are cardigans, a nice coat, warm tights, and a cute pair of boots. These things mean I can keep wearing most of my dresses all winter long.

I also love this Winter Wardrobe Basics Every Woman Should Have list. Makes me think I should get a few more pairs of gloves, my hands are always cold.

Look for Warmer Dresses and Skirts

I don’t buy too many winter dresses or skirts because I get more wear out of ones that can be worn in warmer weather but I do like to have some, especially for colder days.

Look for heavier materials and long sleeves. I really like sweater dresses because they are so nice and warm. The sweater look is also cute during the winter months. Wool skirts are also great and can help keep you warm.

Get Some Cute Dress Pants

It’s easy to want to wear jeans when it’s cold but a cute pair of black dress pants is just as easy if you have a fabric steamer or they don’t wrinkle easily, and also keep you warm.

I don’t do this often because I’m usually happy with a warm pair of tights, especially fleece lined tights, but it is a good thing to have on hand. If you are in a really cold location you may want to have a few pairs and maybe a few different colors.

Wear Cute Boots

Cute boots are perfect to wear with your warmer weather dresses and skirts to stay warmer, they can also make pants look more put together.

I have a couple of pairs and love to wear them during the cooler months. I am on the lookout this year for a pair of cute ankle boots that have better traction than others I have so I can still wear them if it’s a bit slick.

Save Money on Winter Clothes

You will start to see some winter clothing go on sale during the winter months because people often buy at the start of the season.

You can also make a list during the winter months of what you wish you had and buy at the end of the season for some of the best deals.

Avoid trendy pieces unless you really love them. Sticking to classic, nicer pieces means you can use them year after year without looking dated.

I also like to check for coupons from places like Coupons.com so I can save as much as possible. Looking fashionable doesn’t have to be expensive.
