I live in southern Oklahoma and it gets hot! The last thing I want to do when it’s 100 degrees is heat up my kitchen with my oven.

We tend to do a lot of grilling recipes during the summer and other easy summer dinner recipes that don’t required the oven much, if at all.

Before I shared some summer recipes you can use to stay cool I want to share a few tips for keeping cool and making easy summer dinners.

Tips for Easy Summer Dinners

Plan Ahead for Stress-Free Meals

Meal planning is the key to easier dinners all year but especially when you may want to limit yourself on the type of cooking you are doing like on hot summer nights.

Taking a few moments each week to plan your meals ahead of time makes such a difference. In my house during the summer we like to take weather into account when planning and make sure the hottest days will use the least heat.

With my course Meal Planning for Everyone, you can learn effective strategies to create weekly meal plans, ensuring that you have all the ingredients on hand and reducing last-minute stress.

Embrace Quick and Easy Recipes

During the summer we not only want to spend less time cooking so we can enjoy the summer fun but also less time in a hot kitchen is ideal!

Opting for quick and easy recipes that don’t require a lot of preparation or cook time can make summer cooking a lot better.

And there is no shame in having some frozen pizzas and other quick pre-packaged food on hand for those days when there just is no time. Everyone has those days.

Make Use of Seasonal Ingredients

For many locations summer brings a lot of great seasonal produce and it’s great to take advantage of that when you can. Seasonal produce tends to taste better and is also better for the environment.

Eating seasonal food is also often cheaper as the items don’t have to be shipped as far. This is a great way to keep your grocery budget a little bit cheaper.

Prep in Advance

To save even more time during busy summer evenings, consider prepping ingredients in advance. Chop vegetables, marinate meats, or prepare dressings and sauces ahead of time.

You can even make some freezer meals when you have extra time to have on hand for those days when things are too busy to even think about cooking.

Now let’s check out all of the great easy summer dinner recipes!
