Want to make your clothes smell great but don’t want to use harsh chemicals? Try this DIY natural laundry scent booster. It’s easy to make and smells great.
When you want your laundry to have more of a nice smell laundry scent boosters seem like a great idea. The problem is they contain a lot of harsh chemicals including phthalates which are endocrine disruptors.
They also often contain waxes which can build up on your clothes. That can make your clothes look dull and make towels less absorbent.
I prefer my clothes not to have any scent but I do enjoy a light scent on my towels and linens. A good option to accomplish this is a natural DIY laundry scent booster.
Natural Laundry Scent Booster
It’s extremely easy to make and only includes two simple ingredients. Unlike normal laundry scent boosters, it’s completely natural and it can actually help soften your laundry. You can also make it any scent you like.
It helps soften your clothes because it’s made using Epsom salt. And unlike the wax in other scent boosters, it won’t leave a residue on your laundry.
I love that I get to change up the scents to whatever I want. I usually use lavender and lemon but it’s fun to change it up from time to time.
You can make this laundry scent booster for less than $5. If you don’t have these materials on hand the initial investment will be a bit higher but you will have a lot left to make more or to make other homemade cleaners.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only use this with hot loads. You want the oils to get washed out of the clothes just leaving the scent. There is a slight risk if the oil is not washed out that it could cause a fire. Line drying the clothes instead also reduces this risk and is better for your electric bill and will help your clothes last longer.
