Trying to use natural makeup? It’s easy to make a DIY eye primer to help make your shadow last longer without the questionable ingredients.

I love natural makeup and use loose mineral eye shadows, which are great and come in so many colors but they aren’t always super pigmented and can wear off pretty quickly.

One way to help them stay and make them more pigmented is to use an eye primer. There are many out there but most have nasty ingredients and would kind of defeat the purpose of wearing natural mineral makeup.

To solve this problem I decided to make my own. This is insanely easy and only includes two things! So here is how to make your own.

Materials

  • Mineral powder foundation in your shade
  • Coconut oil

Tools

  • Glass Jar

Instructions

    1. Take a small amount of coconut oil and slowly add in your foundation. How much you use is up to you. I believe I did a ratio of about 2 parts coconut oil to 1 part foundation. The foundation just will help even out your skin tone, you really could just use the coconut oil if you wanted to.
    2. All you have to do after that is put the product in the jar and use just a tiny bit on your eye lid before applying your eye shadows.

For the mineral foundation, I used a sample from Everyday Minerals. I love their makeup, so be sure to check it out. I just saved an old jar from some of the makeup I got from them to put my primer in.

If you aren’t used to coconut oil, it has a very low melting point so during the summer you may want to keep it in the fridge to keep it from becoming liquid.

If you try out this primer let me know in the comments below or on Facebook. I’d love to hear what you thought about it.

Primer is one of the few things I need and I love natural alternatives. I think I will give this a shot. I’ll let you know how it works out for me with my incredibly pale skin!

I’m a ghost so just pick a shade of mineral makeup that works for you, or even skip if you can’t. 🙂 I found that Every Minerals does have a good shade for me.
