This past Saturday my husband and I went on a nice day trip to the Oklahoma City area. On our way there we stopped in the small town of Purcell. Purcell was a railroad town and was founded in 1887. It has a very historic downtown. We stopped there because I had heard they have some very nice antique stores.
The first store we went to was amazing. I could have spent hours there. It’s in the historic Hotel Love. It was built in 1895. For the past 30 years it has been owned by a lovely couple, Jerry and Elaine Butler. They were there today and were such sweet people.
When Jerry and Elaine first owned the hotel it was a drug store. After Jerry went to an auction and got some antiques, which they placed in the windows. People started asking where the antique store was. They wanted to look around even when they told them there wasn’t one. After some of their items ended up in the movie Twister they went into the antique business full time.
The shop is two stories and you go through several of the beautiful old hotel rooms. They items are displayed in such a beautiful way. The other stores in town were great as well but this one was really special.
After Purcell we headed up to Oklahoma City to Dave and Buster’s. We had a nice time playing games for awhile and then went to an antique store I really like in Oklahoma City. They have a lot of beautiful furniture and other great items.

My amazing dessert!
After that it was a quick stop in Whole Foods and back down to Norman. In Norman we had a wonderful dinner and Benvenuiti’s, a really nice Italian restaurant. After dinner we made a quick stop at Target, then grabbed some coffee and headed back home. It was a lovely day.
