Are you struggling to take care of your health? Creating healthy habits doesn’t have to be hard or cost a lot of money.
Creating healthier habits can be difficult. We know that we should do more but often knowing where to start is hard. Our lives are also so busy, it’s easy to neglect yourself.
The last couple of months I’ve been getting more serious about taking care of myself. Realizing in July that half of the year was over was a good kick in the butt to do better. I had set great goals at the first of the year but wasn’t meeting them. I wanted to lose weight, be more active, and eat better. I had done some to work on these goals but not enough. Now I’m happy to say that has changed, I am losing weight, I’m far more active, and my diet has improved.
One of the best ways to get healthier and meet your health-related goals is to put good habits into place. Once things are habits we will do them without much thought, making it harder to make excuses not to do the things we should.
Create Healthy Habits
Don’t wake up one morning and decide to change everything you do. This will be overwhelming and will set you up to fail. Pick one or two things to work on at a time. Once those things start to become second nature move on to the next.
Plan Your Day
Having a plan will help you stay on track. There are so many great planners out there to choose from. I personally use a Create 365 Happy Planner. You can find other good options at Amazon.com and Target.
Be sure to write all of your appointments and family’s appointments in the planner. It’s also a good idea to plan meals. Having healthy meals planned will help keep you from making poor food choices.
We all know a healthy diet is important but it’s something many of us just don’t put enough effort into. Sometimes it can be hard to even know where to start when trying to clean up our diet. And also finding the time to cook all of the food can be tough.
One thing that really can cut down on the time spent in the kitchen is an Instant Pot. It’s an electric pressure cooker that also works as a slow cooker, rice cooker, and more. You can make delicious healthy meals in no time. They have become very popular lately so some great cookbooks are coming out, including one that I recently got Easy Paleo Instant Pot Recipes. I’m not paleo but they look like great recipes that can be part of most healthy diets.
I have a lot of fatigue due to Fibromyalgia so between that and being busy it can be hard to make time for fitness. My doctor’s advice is to start very slow, just 5 minutes. It seems like nothing but even that can really make a difference in your health. Starting slowly also helps you build up your stamina and prevent burnout.
For me, daily yoga was a good place to start. I really like this morning yoga flow, it’s a great way to start your morning off right.
Create Morning and Evening Routines
Having morning and evening routines have really made me more productive and that has helped me add in more healthy habits. I learned to create these routines by going through the Make Over Your Mornings and Make Over Your Evenings eCourses. They changed the way I looked at my mornings and evenings.
I often go back to these courses for a refresher to help make sure I’m using my mornings and evenings in the best way possible. It really makes a huge difference in your whole day.
