Need some at-home date night ideas? Why not have a cooking together at-home date night? It’s a fun way to connect and learn together. I received free meals from Blue Apron for this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Date nights are important to help us stay connected but sometimes going out isn’t easy or affordable. Having at-home date nights is a great way to have more date nights.
At-home date nights can often turn into the same thing over and over, a movie or maybe a board game. It can start to be boring and you may not really be connecting much anymore but just going through the motions.
Switching things up from time to time can really make it more exciting and fun. Something my husband and I like to do is learn new things together.
We both are always trying to continue learning new things to keep growing and doing some of those things together can be a lot of fun and also rewarding.
A really fun option is a cooking or baking date night. There are several ways to do this and it’s a great way to learn, connect, and also end up with some delicious food to eat!
Cooking Together for an At-Home Date Night
Take a Cooking Lesson
There are some great online cooking classes that you can take together in your own kitchen. You can learn some basic cooking skills if you aren’t great at the basics or you could learn something more complicated like how to make your own pasta.
Simply set aside a night to spend cooking and gathering your supplies. This could be a one-class kind of course or several classes which gives you an excuse to plan more date nights.
I really love Craftsy for cooking classes because they are affordable and there are a ton of options. I love the video lessons and that you own the class forever so you can take it as you have time.
Get a Meal Subscription
I don’t get a meal subscription regularly because I prefer to shop and cook myself but it’s fun to get one from time to time to cook together.
Since everything is purchased and ready for you it can be a really quick date night. These simple recipes are great if you are new to cooking and want a nice relaxing cooking date.
One of my favorite meal subscriptions is Blue Apron. I like that they source natural ingredients and support small family farms. They also have really fun recipes that I maybe wouldn’t have tried otherwise.
We really love getting them when they offer the Beyond Burger options because we are trying to lower our meat consumption and since it’s something different from what we normally eat it’s fun to get their ideas on how to cook them.
New customers can enjoy $130 off across 6 orders—plus, your first order ships!
Cook Each Other’s Favorite Meals
This can be a fun walk down memory lane with cooking childhood favorites or maybe you’ve never even tried to cook your own favorite meal and this is a good excuse to try.
This gives you two built-in date nights and you could even surprise each other and try to guess what you each picked. You may even find a new favorite to add to your menus.
Try Cuisine From Around the World
Want to try more kinds of food and learn about other countries and cultures? This is a fun way to do that while connecting with your partner.
You could try a different meal each month and even look up some facts about the area to talk about. You could even try and find a documentary or movie from the area to watch while eating your delicious meal.
You could also use a subscription box like Try the World. You get food from around the world each month to try and enjoy.
All of these ideas are fun, you can even just spend time together while cooking a normal every night meal. Just put down the devices and talk to each other.
The important thing is that you have fun and connect. You don’t have to do anything fancy or expensive. Sure those things are fun from time to time but don’t wait for when you can make those things happen, connect more often a smaller level.
