Some canned food just isn’t as good as fresh but in many cases, I will argue that canned green beans are better. Fresh is great in some recipes but for others, a can of french cut green beans is my go-to.
Canned green beans are also so much cheaper than fresh, especially when they are out of season. They are a great staple to keep in your pantry and they don’t have to be boring.
My favorite canned green bean recipe for a quick side dish is to cook up some onions and garlic, saute the green beans with them and add some cooked bacon. Even better if you top it with a sprinkling of freshly grated parmesan.
Now for holidays, and sometimes just because, green bean casserole is a favorite around here. I make mine with homemade cream sauce, bacon, and lots of cheddar cheese, yum!
