There are so many planners out there how do you pick? Check out these are some of the best planners out there that are perfect for homemakers.
For years I went without a planner. I would just write things on a calendar, use my phone, or just scrap pieces of paper. I forgot things all the time and it was not very organized.
I used a Day-Timer planner for a while and that was fine. I made my own planner for years and that worked well but was a fair amount of work. Then a few years ago all of these fancy planners started popping up.
Honestly what really made me want to get on the planner wagon was planner stickers. I’ve always loved stickers and arts and crafts so this really appealed to me. I know to some that seems a bit silly but being creative with planning keeps me on track because I enjoy it and something about a colorful page makes more sense to me.
Now there are so many planners out there. From very basic ones to bright and cheery ones packed with extras. There is also a huge price range. Some planners can get pretty pricey but you can still find some really good ones for reasonable prices.
I find using a planner essential now. Like most homemakers, I’m juggling many different responsibilities and trying to keep track of all of that in my head or just on a piece of paper would be challenging.
Before picking the planner I have used for a few years I did a lot of research and I continue to check out new planners. I want to share what I’ve found in the planner world to help you pick out the best planner for you.

I used a Happy Planner for years and loved it. It’s a great option if you like to be able to add pages to your planner. It makes it very customizable.
I also love all of their expansion packs and they have many other accessories including stickers. It’s also more affordable than many options out there right now. They also come in three sizes and they now have a bound option if you prefer that.
These planners and accessories are available at a lot of craft stores as well. I always got mine at Michaels using one of their great coupons, be sure you are enrolled in their reward program as well.
This planner has become extremely popular and is setting a lot of the trends in the planner world. There are a few layout options available for these planners, the covers are customizable, and there are a couple of size options now, including some softbound options. These are a bit on the pricey side but they are a big fan favorite.
Erin Condren has a newer planner option that is totally different than the other options they have offered. It’s the planner I decided to go with for 2020 and I’m excited to use it.
With the PetitePlanners you can either use them on their own or get one of their folios which holds four planners. It gives you a lot of flexibility because they have all types of planners you can mix and match. I personally have two monthly planners, one for personal use and one for my business. I also have a daily planner and a notebook.
I had been using two planners every year and that got annoying so happy to try this system of having it all in one place. The price sounds high but there is usually a discount and that’s for the folio which you use year after year and four planners.
I strongly considered this planner when picking mine. It was designed by a fellow blogger that I have followed for years, Ruth Soukup of Living Well Spending Less. It’s colorful and fun and great if you are into goal setting. It’s also got built-in budget planning.
This is one planner that is designed just with homemakers in mind. It is a Christian based planner but the religious material included is minimal so it could be ignored or covered with planner stickers if that is not something that is of interest to you.
Not only does it have monthly calendars and weekly spreads, but it also has tasks lists and shopping lists that can be removed from the planner easily. It’s a nice, simple planner and very affordable.
If you are looking for a budget-friendly option check out Blue Sky. They have some really pretty options. You can also find them at some Targets for an amazing price. This may be a good option if you are just starting to dip your toes into the planner world.
These planners are highly customizable. You pick your cover, layout, what month it starts on, you can add sections like home, blogging, budgeting, meal planning, fitness, and so much more. It can get expensive but it’s really cool to be able to design the planner to fit your needs perfectly. They also have ready to ship options that are very affordable.
I love the covers on these planners, they are so pretty. You will find goal setting worksheets, daily inspirational quotes, gold foiled monthly tabs and other great features. They also have daily planning pages that aren’t as common in planners. They also have different sizes.
I used a PurpleTrail planner in 2017 as my business planner. I loved it. It’s a very customizable planner. They everything from daily planners to 3-ring binders, mom planners to wedding planners, and everything in between.
All of the planners have almost endless customization options so if you have struggling to find the perfect planner this could be a great option since you can make it whatever you want.
This was on my shortlist when picking a planner. I really liked the style, they are beautiful planners. I also liked that they had yearly and monthly goal tracking sheets and extra sections like travel and gifts. They are also a disc planner system like the Happy Planner.
