Looking for fun date night at home ideas? Check out these great date night ideas at home that are a lot of fun and affordable.

A reader survey by Redbook found that 45 percent of couples “rarely” have date nights. Only 18 percent said they go out around once a month.

Date nights are a great way to spend quality time with your partner and stay connected. One reason often given for the lack of date nights is cost.

Last month I shared cheap date night ideas to help with that issue. Another excuse is time. Date nights at home can help with both time and cost. Having dates at home can still be fun.

Date Nights at Home

  1. Have a movie night at home, complete with popcorn and snacks. Don’t forget to throw some pillows and cozy blankets on the sofa so you can curl up together.
  2. Have a picnic in your backyard.
  3. Play board games. Make it as innocent or sensual as you want.
  4. Have a theme night. For example, watch a sports-themed movie, grill hot dogs and eat fun junk food. Other theme ideas would be Ireland, Paris, a decade, the ideas are endless.
  5. Enjoy childhood favorites. Get to know each other better by watching some childhood favorite movies or TV shows and sharing your childhood favorite snacks.
  6. Have a wine tasting at home. Pick out a few bottles of wine and find which are your favorites. (What to do with leftover wine.) This would work for beer as well.
  7. Make ice cream sundaes. Be sure to try each other’s creations. You can even make homemade chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
  8. Recreate a memorable meal together.
  9. Start a journal together.
  10. Get to know each other by asking each other questions. (45 Fun Questions for Married Couples)
  11. Create your own holiday. Be as silly as you want to but make sure to put it on the calendar.
  12. Remember the day of mixtapes? Make each other playlists on your phone, computers or use Amazon music. (Get a free trial for Amazon Music Unlimited)
  13. Have dinner by candlelight. It doesn’t have to be a fancy dinner, it can even be take-out. Get out some nice plates, cloth napkins, and some candles and have a romantic dinner.
  14. Play Name That Food. Each person picks out some food to feed the other person while they are blindfolded. See how many you can each guess.
  15. Make a date night jar together to help make sure you continue to make time for date nights!

More Cheap Date Nights

Looking for ideas away from home as well? They don’t have to break your budget to be fun. There are a lot of great date night ideas that are cheap and easy.

  1. A picnic at the park.
  2. Go camping.
  3. Attend local events.
  4. Volunteer at a local animal shelter.
  5. Check out a local musician.

No problem! Figure with just two people drinking multiple types of wine, there is going to be some left over and you don’t want to waste it. 🙂

Just tuck these away for when you need them. Some can be used with friends though. Friendships need nurturing as well. 🙂

Those are cute ideas! We try to go out once a month. Besides that, we just try to spend a little time together every evening before bed.
