Hello! I’m Lisa and I’m the person behind Retro Housewife Goes Green. I’m excited to have you here and hope you will grab a cup of tea and sit down for a bit so we can get to know each other.

I live in a 1300 square foot home built in 1963, and still largely original, in a small town in Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma with my husband and our rescued cat MM Beans.
Writing is not something I ever thought I’d be doing. I am dyslexic and writing was never something I was interested in. It’s funny how life works. Sharing things with friends and family led to me writing for a living.
The types of things I share here are less of a surprise. When I was around two my mom went back to school to get a nursing degree. During this time I stayed with my grandma. She had a love of baking and that is something she shared with me, this is why you will see a lot of delicious desserts and other recipes. I also enjoyed playing house as a kid and making things so homemaking and DIY is no surprise.
I also have had an interesting in being kind to the planet from a young age. A favorite story in my family is from when I was very young and my dad went to throw away my baby food jar. I stopped him and said “no daddy, we cycle.”
My first protest was in 1st grade when my school was releasing balloons and I refused. I told the teacher it was bad to release balloons because they became litter and could hurt animals.
As an adult, I still love to bake, create DIY cleaners and other fun things, try to live a greener life, and playing house has turned into more cleaning. The cleaning isn’t always fun but I do like the end results.
