I’m very excited that spring is on the way. We have been getting an early taste of spring here in Oklahoma. We have had a lot of days with highs in the 60’s and lows in the 40’s. This kind of weather makes layering very important.
ModCloth is one place I love to shop for good layering pieces. Today I wanted to share one layered look that I’m loving for spring. They have a wonderful selection of cardigans, my favorite layering tool.
I don’t wear jeans terribly often but it’s quite windy at times during spring. Outdoor activities, skirts, and wind don’t mix very well. So you will see me in jeans a bit more during windy spring days. When I do wear jeans I love the high-waisted jeans. High-waisted jeans are very flattering for my curvy figure. And I also love the vintage feel of high-waisted jeans. I normally roll up the legs for a more vintage look.
I’m a fan of cardigans all year but during transitional times of the year they are even more useful. The beautiful aqua cardigan above is a perfect spring color. It’s very flattering for most skin tones, especially my fair, pink-toned skin
White pieces are always useful with layering. They will go with many different sweaters and bottoms. I love this white top over a simple white tank top for a spring look. It’s simple but still stylish.
Depending on how you style these pieces you could have a classic or vintage feel. I would go for the more vintage look and roll the legs of the jeans, tuck in the shirt, wear my pearls and put my hair in faux victory rolls, or another cute vintage hair style. You could also pair the tops and sweater with a cute skirt for a more dressy look.
As you can see from this photo from a date night with my husband this past weekend, I love aqua cardigans. This is a similar cardigan to the one above and for this look I paired it with a lavender shirt from ModCloth (sadly it’s no longer available). I added my great grandmother’s sweater clip to bring a more vintage feel to the look. During the day I wore this with some high-waisted jeans and at night I paired it with a black and white polka dot skirt.
I’d love to see and hear about your favorite looks for transitioning into spring. Also, how is the weather where you are? Share in the comments below. You can also tag me in your photos on Instagram, @retrohousewife05 or share a photo on my Facebook page.
