A good nighttime routine is important and including self-care in your routine can make it even better and help your mental health. To help you create your self-care nighttime routine, Juice Beauty is sponsoring this post.

Nighttime routines are great for helping you start off your morning on the right foot. Often the focus of our routines can become housework and our jobs. Lost in the shuffle can be taking care of ourselves. Lately, there has been a movement to put more effort into self-care. This is something I have been trying to incorporate more into my life as well.

When we don’t take care of ourselves everything in our life suffers. For me, my chronic stress and lack of self-care lead to a lot of health problems. I had a big wakeup call when I ended up covered in hives and found out it was due to something autoimmune. I was also having other symptoms, including heart issues, due to chronic stress. My body is still recovering and I’m still learning to cope with stress better and to take better care of myself.

Adding some self-care habits into our nighttime routine is one way to improve our health, mentally and physically. When we are healthier we have more to give to those we love and our interests.

Creating a Self-Care Nighttime Routine

The first thing you need to do is create your nighttime routine and be sure that you include time for self-care. I recommend reading Creating a Nighttime Routine and checking out the Make Over Your Evenings eCourse.

Once you have your routine you need to decide what self-care will benefit you the most. You may want to try a few things and see what makes the biggest impact in your life. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Find Time for Something You Enjoy

Taking time for something you enjoy before bed is a great mood booster. Be sure it’s something relaxing so you don’t end up struggling to go to sleep after. I like to drink a hot cup of tea and read something or crochet. Sometimes I will also take a hot bubble bath and use a nice face mask. Find something that helps you unwind and is just for you.

Take Care of Your Skin

I’m guilty of often going to sleep with makeup on. This is not a great habit and one that I’ve been working to stop. It’s important to have good quality and safe skin care products. You want the product to work but you also want them to be safe. Too many skin care products contain harmful ingredients that can have negative effects on your health.

Juice Beauty skin care products
The skin care line I use is Juice Beauty’s STEM CELLULARâ„¢ Anti-Wrinkle Skincare line. Each night I wash my face with the 2-in-1 Cleanser, which is great for removing makeup and cleansing your skin. I follow up with the Booster Serum, Eye Treatment, the Lifting Neck Cream, and the Overnight Cream. These products all work together really well and keep my skin hydrated, wrinkle-free, and very healthy. When I want an extra boost I use the Exfoliating Peel Spray. It makes your skin look amazing instantly.

Use Lavender

Lavender has been shown to have relaxing effects. Spray your linens with some lavender sleep spray or use an essential oil diffuser with some lavender essential oil. It creates such a soothing effect in your bedroom.

Brain Dump

All the thoughts running through our heads can keep us up at night. Putting them all on paper can help you move on from them and fall asleep faster. You can simply write everything you need to do or that is in your head in a notebook or use a planner. I often just open a note in my phone and add what I need to, to my planner in the morning.

Relax With Bedtime Yoga

There are some great bedtime yoga routines, many can even be done in bed. This can help with relaxing your body and helping you sleep. You don’t want to do any energizing poses or flows, just nice relaxing poses. Check out this bedtime yoga sequence.

Incorporating things like this into your nighttime routine will leave you feeling happier and more relaxed. Reducing your stress can also have great benefits for your overall health. I’d also love to hear what you like to do at night to relax and take care of yourself. Share in the comments below.

Sharing is caring!

I really need to start this whole “brain dump” thing. New to me- I need to read up on it because my mind is always racing at night. I’m totally with you on the skin care! I love using sheet masks but also the Tatcha deep clean scrub – ah I love it. It’s like it scrubs off all the stress of the day.
Thanks for the post- found it on Pinterest and now following you.

My nighttime beauty routine is complex, with many pieces. But it puts me in a good, calm, even peaceful state to wind down before bed.

Part of it is setting a timer to expose different parts of my scalp to red- and infra-red light. It’s warming and calming. Sometimes I even do leg lifts while lying on my back with the red light on me.

I am usually reading online or on my Kindle, so I wear blue-blocking glasses in the evening. And I like to fall asleep listening to an audiobook on a sleep sound bar under my pillow. When I wake at night, I usually re-start the audio book timer. But when my phone broke recently, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I didn’t miss the sound bar, and was able to fall back asleep easily despite the silence. Amazing.
