Looking for eco-friendly advent calendars to use to countdown to Christmas? There are some great options out there that you will love.

Advent is starting very soon. And I’ve always enjoyed advent calendars, it’s a fun way countdown the days. When I was a kid our neighbor would always give my brother and me an advent calendar.

I always loved opening the windows each day. Since she largely started this tradition for me I still think of her when I get advent calendars now.

Many advent calendars are filled with cheap, unhealthy, and unethical chocolate. Thankfully there are many great eco-friendly options out there. These are six of my favorites.

Eco-Friendly Advent Calendars

  • Divine Chocolate Advent Calendar– This simple advent chocolate features Fair Trade chocolate. It’s my personal favorite chocolate advent calendar. If you are vegan try Moo-Free advent calendars.
  • Refillable Chipboard Advent Calendar- There are a few options made from chipboard and decorated beautifully. They can be used year after year and you can fill them with candy or small gifts.
  • DIY Advent Activity Calendar– If DIY is more your thing, this calendar is for you. It’s also great for those trying to avoid more stuff or candy, as you fill it with activities!
  • Lego Advent Calendar– Legos are lead and phthalate-free, making them good toy options. Plus the legos can also be used for many years. There is even a Harry Potter advent calendar.
  • Magnet Advent Calendar– This cute calendar can be placed on your fridge! Each of the tins is reusable and magnetic. Great for renters that can’t put holes in walls or those with limited space.
  • Playmobil Advent Calendar– Playmobil has fun advent calendars that can bring enjoyment to your kids all year instead of just for a month.

Etsy is a great place to look for handmade, reusable advent calendars. There are all kinds of styles, ones you can fill with gifts and ones that don’t require any filling.

If you use one that needs candy, check out the Natural Candy Store. They carry a lot of great natural and organic candy. They also have options that are allergy-free.
