The holidays can really blow our budgets. Making extra money for the holidays can help reduce that stress. There are many easy ways to make money fast, most without leaving your home.
The holidays can put a big strain on our budgets. The expenses seem to pile up so fast. Even when we try to have a frugal Christmas we can need some extra cash around the holidays.
It’s best to save all year for the holidays but many of these ideas will earn you money even at the last minute. The more work you put in the more you can earn but every little bit can really help our budgets.
I’ve tried all of the things on this list and all are legitimate ways to earn extra money. I like some more than others and the same thing will be true for you. Try a few and see which works best for you.
How to Make Extra Money for Christmas
Sell Your Stuff
It’s a great idea to declutter before the holidays so why not kill two birds with one stone? While declutter set aside the items that may be worth selling. If you have a lot of stuff consider a garage sale.
For higher value items or if you don’t have enough for a garage sale, you can list on local Facebook groups, eBay, or one of my favorite ways to sell things is with Amazon Trade-In. While you may not get the best price it’s the least amount of work.
Get Money Back
This is one of the easiest ways to get a little extra money. Simply sign up for cash-back programs and earn money on items you are already buying.
There are several great apps for getting cash back from grocery shopping like Ibotta, Shrink, and BerryCart. These apps go on your phone and you simply scan in your items and receipts when you are done shopping.
For online shopping I really like Ebates. You earn a percentage back for shopping at all kinds of places like The Container Store, Staples, Etsy, Disney Store and more. There is a browser tool that helps you know when a store uses Ebates and also tells you when there are coupon codes.
Sell Your Goods or Services
Do you bake the best bread or crochet adorable baby blankets? You can sell these things locally on Facebook or set up an Etsy shop. Around Christmas people are even more likely to want to buy handmade goods.
You can also offer services like babysitting, pet sitting, clean houses, mow lawns, wrap gifts, tutor, run errands for people, the list is really endless. People are really busy and often need help with different tasks, offering to do these tasks can be a quick way to earn some extra cash.
This is a kind of boring way to earn money but it’s one you can do in your spare time with new special skills or equipment. I personally like to use Amazon Mechanical Turk. By using Reddit you can find which surveys are the most worth your time. It’s a really easy to earn some extra cash.
Swagbucks is another very popular survey site. While I have used it I’ve never really gotten into it. Some people make a lot of money using it though so it’s worth trying.

Start a Blog
I’m saving this option for last because it takes time and a lot of work to make money blogging. You can’t expect to make money overnight or just use it to make extra money during the holidays. However, if you have things you want to share with the world and want to put in the work, blogging can be a great way to make money.
