Homemade biscuits are great when eating in savory form or sweet. Perfect with fried chicken or jam and butter with a cup of tea! Sadly, for many the closest thing they have had to a homemade biscuit comes from a can. I do have to say there is something satisfying about popping those cans but the ingredients leave a lot to be desired.
While some will argue that Oklahoma isn’t the south, the part where I live has a lot of southern culture. While most of my family is from California, I still have some southern roots. Sweet tea and buttery biscuits are a must!
The thought of making homemade biscuits is overwhelming at first but really they are quite easy. They are also so much better than those canned biscuits. And remember, real biscuits use real butter!
- 1 cup homemade biscuit mix
- 1/3 cup milk
- Preheat oven to 450ºF.
- Mix milk and baking mix, don't over mix.
- Drop onto un-greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes.
What’s your favorite way to eat biscuits? I think jam and butter for breakfast is my favorite. It’s a wonderful treat when it’s getting cold.
