When entertaining people, especially around the holidays I enjoy having nice treats to offer my guests. It’s an easy way to make your home feel even more welcoming.
Baking something has the added benefit of making your house smell nice. No fake fragrance sprays can make a home smell as good as something baking.
The first thing I started baking as a small child was cookies. They are still my favorite thing to make. The options are endless, they are easy and perfect for sharing. Cookies also make a great homemade gift for neighbors, friends, anyone on your list.
When I give baked goods for gifts it’s fun to be able to give multiple kinds of treats. However, I don’t want to have to spend a ton of time trying to make lots of different baked goods. We want to be able to enjoy the holidays after all.
That’s why I like sugar cookie dough. I shared my favorite recipe awhile ago, it’s very simple and can be used to make drop cookies or shaped. You can also add icing if you’d like. Another option for that dough is this recipe. This recipe takes sugar cookies to a whole new level.
To make these cookies I use one of my favorite store-bought cookies, Back to Nature Fudge Mint cookies. They are delicious on their own or in this recipe. I love Back to Nature because the use good ingredients that I can trust.
- 1 batch of sugar cookie dough
- 1 box of Back to Nature Fudge Mint cookies
- Make thin circles of dough slightly larger than the Fudge Mint cookies.
- Place a fudge mint cookie on one of the sugar cookies.
- Cover with another thin circle of dough.
- Press edges together.
- Place on cookie sheet.
- Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until starting to get golden. DO NOT OVER BAKE! These cookies are only soft if you don’t over bake them. They will seem slightly under done when you pull them out, this is okay.
- Let cool for a couple of minutes on the cookie sheet and then finish cooling on a cooling rack.
While picking up the Fudge Mint cookies I highly recommend also trying some of their crackers. They are also great for entertaining. My favorites are Organic Stoneground Wheat, Classic Round, Crispy Cheddar, and Crispy Wheat. Serve with some cheese and you have a wonderful appetizer for your guests.
