This homemade coffee lip scrub is a simple homemade lip scrub that will leave your lips feeling soft plus it smells amazing! It’s also very easy to make and would make a great homemade gift.
Especially during the winter months, my skin gets so dry, including my lips. Lip balms help and so does increasing your water intake but sometimes you need more help. I have found using a mild lip scrub helps a lot.
There are a lot of lip scrubs out there but it’s so easy and cheap to make homemade lip scrub, why buy them? Plus since this is going on your lips it’s a good idea to use natural and edible ingredients.
My favorite base for lip scrubs is coconut oil. Coconut oil is great for moisturizing and has lots of great benefits for your skin. It’s thought to even possibly give mild sun protection to your skin. Plus with its newfound popularity, I think most of us have a jar sitting in our kitchens.
Homemade Coffee Lip Scrub
For this lip scrub recipe, I use two exfoliating agents, sugar and coffee grounds. The mixture makes a nice mild exfoliant and the coffee smells great.
This recipe also uses cocoa powder which is all the rage in cosmetics right now. It’s thought that cocoa powder helps smooth fine lines and give you smooth, healthy-looking skin.
I like to reuse jars I already have for my lip scrub but you can also purchase small jars at hobby stores or on Amazon. I used a 1.5-ounce jelly jar I had saved. Just make sure it’s a food-safe container.
This scrub doesn’t have preservatives so make a small amount at a time. If you aren’t going to use it very often you may want to only make half of this recipe at a time. Because of the coconut oil, it’s best not to store it in the fridge, the oil will become very hard. You can however place it in the fridge for a few minutes if it melts during the summer months.

Oh I bet this makes your lips feel amazing! I’m already battling dry lips, and they’re sensitive, so I have a hard time finding something that makes them feel good, tastes okay, and doesn’t make them break out even worse. I can’t wait to try this!!

How long can you store this ?

I’d make a weeks worth or so at a time, unless you want to keep it in the fridge and then you could keep it for a few weeks at least. I’d just smell it and watch for any mold growth.

This works well as a hand, body and face scrub. For face keep the coffee very finely ground. DO NOT rub too hard on face. The caffeine in the coffee helps with skin texture.
