Switching over to a more natural, less processed diet can seem overwhelming at first. Most of us are pretty busy and don’t want to spend all day in the kitchen making healthy meals for our families.
Thankfully it doesn’t have to be that hard. Many recipes we already love can be easily adapted to be less processed. Baking mix is something a lot of quick recipes use. You can make everything from biscuits to pot pies with it. However, the ingredients in baking mix are not the best.
However, it’s very easy to make your own baking mix with natural ingredients. It only takes a few minutes and can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container in the fridge until you are ready to use it.
Homemade Baking Mix
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter with pastry cutter or fork, until mixture is crumbly.
- Store in fridge up for up to 5-6 months. It can be stored in the freezer for longer storage.
This makes 3 cups of mix but it’s very easy to double it. You can use it for any recipe that calls for Bisquick or baking mix.
Here are some of the things I use it for-
Chicken Pot Pie
Raspberry Lemon Muffins
Chocolate Chip Muffins
Mini Deep Dish Pizzas
