What I’m Into (February 2013 Edition)

It’s hard to believe February is almost over. One of the best parts of the month was getting to see my “brother” (you can read about that on my mom’s blog) and meeting his girlfriend and new baby. He moved away several years ago and it had been a few years since we had seen him. We spent a great night together and it was wonderful meeting his girlfriend and adorable and sweet baby.

I also finally got a pantry. My mom and I went on our monthly grocery trip so the pantry is nice a full now. And I joined the local coop and got my first order.

Now I thought I would share some my favorites from the month.

Reading- Books & Blogs

I read a lot of non-fiction that can be pretty heavy but lately I’ve been in the mood for some lighter reading. I’ve been working on the Pretty Little Liars series and I just started the forth book. I’m also reading a book a friend of mine wrote and I will be sharing more about that soon.

I have found a few new blogs I’ve been enjoying as well. Becoming Peculiar is one I found tonight, I have enjoyed the real food posts and green posts. I also found the blog Grace & Gusto this month, I found it through another blog I enjoy, Little House on the Prairie Living.

Watching- TV and Movies

Until it ended for the season I was enjoying Downton Abbey. I adore that show and was terribly sad the season ended, and how it ended. A guilty pleasure is Pretty Little Liars. I’ve also been watching all of the seasons of Little House on the Prairie, I love that show, even if it doesn’t follow the real story very much.

The only movie I think I watched was Monster’s Ink, which is always enjoyable.

Music

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of jazz on Pandora. On my iPhone I’ve been listening to John Coltrane.

Favorite Food

This month I have been eating a lot of lasagna. It’s my favorite food and so nice on a cold evening and we have had a lot of those this month. For Valentine’s Day I made my husband a grass-fed filet with a whiskey pepper sauce, which he really enjoyed. I also made heart shaped brownies with homemade whipped cream and caramel sauce.

I haven’t done a lot of special baking or cooking this month other than that. Hopefully next month more will be happening in the kitchen.

DIY and Crafting

As I said earlier, we installed shelving in a closet to create a pantry. That made me very happy, anyone that has struggled to find room for food understands. I have continued to enjoy it this month.

Sadly that is all of the DIY or crafting that has really happened. I have been wanting to crochet more but that doesn’t seem to happen much.

Thanks so much for the shout-out! I love your tag-line — that pretty much sums up one of my goals, too! I think homemakers have the power to do tremendous good in helping our species get itself out of the mess we’ve made!

Also? Monsters Inc is one of my favourite movies of all time.

You’re welcome! I’m enjoying reading your blog. And thanks for the kind words. Monster’s Inc is a pretty great movie. Did you know a 2nd one is coming out soon? :)

My sister is the biggest Little House on the Prairie fan ever! I’m off to check out this site and bookmark it for her. ;)
PS Those brownies look utterly divine – hope they tasted as good as they looked!

Those brownies look amazing! I’m a little jealous of your pantry. I have a good amount of storage space but no pantry so my food storage system is not quite my ideal.

Thanks for linking up with What I’m Into!
