Johnson & Johnson Boycott Goes Viral
| November 1, 2011 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Green Parenting, Toxins |
Environmentalist have been going after Johnson & Johnson since 2009, when Campaign for Safer Cosmetics found formaldehyde or l,4-dioxane, or many times both, in their products.
This story is finally going viral after the Campaign for Safer Cosmetics released Baby’s Tub Is Still Toxic a study about the on going problems with the ingredients in Johnson & Johnson’s products. The study found that Johnson & Johnson products being sold in the U.S. and other countries still contain formaldehyde (which is a known carcinogen). Even more disturbing is the fact that the versions Johnson & Johnson sells in Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, South Africa, Sweden, and the U.K. DON’T contain the formaldehyde-releasing ingredient.
A little bit of good news has come out of this study, Johnson & Johnson released a statement saying it’s no longer introducing new products with formaldehyde-releasing preservatives and is phasing out these preservatives worldwide. However, this means products on the store shelves and in people’s homes are NOT safe. We must tell Johnson & Johnson this is not enough, these ingredients need to be taken out now. Parents deserve to know the products they use on their children are safe.
