Green Holiday Guide: Green Bean Casserole

My mom and I are allergy to mushrooms so we can’t eat the traditional green bean casserole so my mom came up with this one. So far almost everyone that has tried it likes it better than the traditional green bean casserole.

Green Bean Casserole

2 bags of frozen green beans (stay away from canned as they contain BPA)
1 package of uncured bacon (optional)
? cheddar cheese
? heavy whipping cream
1 Tablespoon butter
1 Tablespoon all purpose flour
? parm cheese
? cream cheese
garlic, salt, lemon pepper, basil

  1. Place bacon on cookie sheet and cover loosely with a piece of foil.
  2. Place in oven on ? for ? minutes. Let cool and then crumble.
  3. Melt butter in skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Once melted add flour and stir for about 1-2 minutes, don’t let the mixture burn.
  5. Lower heat to low-medium. Slowly add in cream and stir.
  6. Once the cream starts to boil lower heat to low and add in parm and cream cheese.
  7. Once the cheese has melted and add seasoning to taste.
  8. While sauce thickens (stir occationally) place your green beans in a casserole dish.
  9. Once the sauce is thick, pour over green beans.
  10. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and crumbled pieces of bacon.
  11. Place in oven on ? for ? minutes, or until cheese is melted and starting to brown on the edges.
