Green After Christmas

Christmas means lots of wrapping and trash for most people but for me it means restocking my wrapping box. My mom and I get a laugh out of the fact that we pass gift bags back and forth each year.
Gift bags, tissue paper, and ribbons are always easy to save and reuse. Even if the gift bag isn’t in great shape you can often repair it or cut the pretty front off and glue it on a plain bag.
If you have big gifts it can be pretty easy to save the wrapping paper to use for smaller gifts. I haven’t bought wrapping supplies in a long time. My box was pretty empty after wrapping for Christmas but now has more than before Christmas.
So do you reuse gift wrap supplies? If so any tips to help make it easier?

I save tissue paper that isn't crumpled up, bows that aren't crushed, bags that aren't raggedy. I wrap with good quality paper, but I never wrap big things and often just “garnish” gifts with nice ribbon or some such. I buy real cloth ribbon and it lasts over and over and over again!
Yep. I'm the dork who toted back gift bags across three states after the holidays! (OK I confess I trashed the tissue paper this year, but with all the snow, it was a recipe for an unholy mess.)
The bags that rip after the holidays can be used as a makeshift trash bag as well.
And don't forget the cards! I save those for gift tags next year.
Happy new year!
I usually cut packages open with a little swiss army knife so the paper doesn't tear. I've also started making fabric gift bags, which is a lot of fun!
While I don't do any December gift-giving, I save wrapping paper all the time. I always scoop up wrinkled tissue paper because usually I'm going to wrinkle it up again. I also like the look of tissue that's been wrinkled and then re-flattened.
Green Girl: Tissue paper can be ironed if it doesn't look very nice. I love cloth ribbons!
Robbie: I would have done the same hehe. I have been known to take bags of recycling home with me from trips (now I have an iphone app so I can find recycling centers when on trips so this will happen less).
I make gift tags out of my cards and use some for making new cards sometimes as well.
Nexyoo: I can't wait until I have room to sew so I can make fabric gift bags. I did make one this year with a little hand sewer thing but it's hard to sew straight with it so only made one.
Cat: I have LOADS of tissue paper I have saved. If it tears I just use it in smaller bags.
I used brown paper and white lining paper left over from some DIY this year, both properly recyclable. And I like reusing tins or boxes to wrap in, although getting them back off the recipient can be hard…..
I reuse cloth ribbons, boxes, bows, and gift bags. I shredded gift paper in the paper shredder to use in next year's gift bags instead of tissue paper.
I resue bags and tissue Hate wraping so use mostly reused bags I also buy used bags at resale shops and yard sales
