America Recyles Day

I was going to write about my husband kids at school (he teaches public school) but I just went to the America Recycles Day website and I’m a little upset at who is sponsoring it, Nestle Waters.
I know they need money and what not but Nestle?! This seems like another way for Nestle to make people think they are green.
Being on the board of directors of my local recycling coalition I hear about how plastic is a real problem. We have to much and no one wants to buy it to recycle it. Why? Because there is not much of a market for it.
I’m happy we are bring awareness to recycling. I think recycling is highly important. Our local recycling coalition did a poster contest for local schools and it was awesome seeing the kids drawings and telling people why they should recycle.
My husband’s students showed they had a good idea what it is even though their town doesn’t have recycling so very few recycle at home. It’s because he has talked to them about it and they recycle in their classroom. The posters showed they are listening!
So what do you think? Should I be promoting America Recycles Day when they are sponsored by a company I boycott?
This is apart of the Green Moms Carnival hosted this month by Recycle Your Day.
