Blog Action Day: Climate Change
| October 15, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
This year bloggers from all over the world are coming together to talk about climate change. With Copenhagen in December and the International Day of Climate Action on October 24th, this is a great time to talk about climate change.
Some people tell me they don’t bother to make green changes in their lives because they don’t think it will matter. But with more than 13,000,000 people reading the blogs written today it’s easy to see it does matter.

If just 1,000 of the Americans reading would give up one bottle of water a day, everyday for a year we could save (in one year)
- 114,000 gallons of extra water (which is used when producing the water).
- 37,000 megajoules of energy.
- 9,000 gallons of oil. (just in the production of the water, not counting the distribution)
- 68,000 pounds of C02 from production of the bottles
That’s enough drinking water for around 500 people for a year, enough power to power around 10,980,532 American homes for a month, enough oil to power 9 cars (getting 30 mpg) for a year and like planting 5,231 trees.
With more than 13,000,000 people reading these blogs just think of the impact that could be made just by giving up bottled water.
If you are ready to make the switch check out the BPA-free reusable bottles at The Soft Landing.
