Product Review: Green 4 Your Soul
| September 30, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |

Green 4 Your Soul is a cute online store that was created to take the guess work out of going green. The staff researches and tests all the products they carry. They are committed to proving the safest and highest quality organic and natural products. They will not sell products that are tested on animals, contain harmful ingredients, or simply don’t work.
I was able to try out the Shea Terra Organics Bourbon Vanilla Shea Body Butter. You will first notice how wonderful it smells. It’s not over powering but it leaves a nice light scent. It is also very moisturizing. This would make a great Christmas gift!
Green 4 Your Soul also carries other products I enjoy like 100% Pure personal care products, Deep Steep bubble bath, and many other great products for you and your family, and even the family dog!

Product Review: GreenSmart
| September 29, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
This is the second time I have been able to review GreemSmart’s products. Last time I reviewed the Eco Friendly Tote Bag. I have gotten a lot of use out of that bag. And it’s holding up very well.
This time I got to try out some of their neogreene products. Neogreene is like neoprene but have you ever smelled neoprene? Those smells are VOCs from the glue and synthetic rubber. Neogreene is free of vinyl, phthalates, VOCs, and chlorine. It also consumes 25% less energy to manufacture and 25% less petroleum to produce. You can even see the test results on the website. Neogreene won’t absorb water, it doesn’t mold, and it’s very light weight.
I tried out the bottle tote and stainless steel water bottle. The tote will hold a number of bottles, I tried it on two other stainless steel bottles I had and it worked for both. It’s great for stainless steel since stainless steel sweats. It also helps keep your drink cold (or hot). It even comes with a carabineer so you can hang it on something making it easier to not lose.

The other thing I tried was the laptop sleeve. It’s a very handy sleeve if you like to carry your laptop in a backpack or brief case. It helps protect it from liquids and damage. It is designed with a gusset and mesh interior to help your laptop cool off if you put it in hot. The prices for the sleeves are also very good! They come in three sizes and there is also one for Macbooks.

Greensmart also carries some totes and brief cases. You can find the products on Amazon.com, GreenFeet.com, GreenHome.com, and a few other online stores. Check the website for the full list.
Product Review: Citizenpip
| September 28, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
Citizenpip is making going green easier for school aged kids and their parents. They make lunch kits that include everything parents need to send their kids to school with a waste-free lunch.
The products are also free of lead, BPA, PVC, and phthalates. They are lab tested to exceed FDA and CPSIA standards.
You can get kits or make your own. They have lunch boxes, water bottles, insulated food jars, bpa-free food containers, cloth napkins, and stainless steel forks and spoons.
I found the containers to be very easy for small hands. If you have kids that have a hard time with some of the stainless steel containers this is a great option. They seal very well yet are easier to open than even plastic containers. The insulated food jar lid screws on and also is easy for little hands.
I really like all the items they sell. Everything is easy to clean and easy to pack. I highly recommend these products. I don’t have kids but I still enjoy using the products whenever I need to pack a lunch for myself. It’s a very flexible system and would fit well in almost every family.
A Greener NFL Fan
| September 27, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
I’m a big Cincinnati Bengals fan and my husband is a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan (today will not be a good day in my house!). While some parts of being a football fan are still hard to green others are getting better. We are both wearing jerseys today which are not eco in anyway but the there are ways to be green and a NFL fan.
Last year for Christmas I got my husband these Steelers items from Etsy.com. They are handmade so greener than the mass produced items you normally find. (Also not made in China!)

Etsy.com is a great place to find handmade NFL items. Sadly the Bengals are so popular so not as much stuff as Steelers.
The NFL Shop has some organic items as well.
If you have places to shop for eco-friendly NFL gear be sure to post!
Product Review: EcoGear
| September 27, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
Ever since winning EcoGear products from a blog giveaway I have loved their products. They are very well made, PVC-free, chlorine-free, and phthalate-free. They use eco-friendly materials like organic cotton, recycled plastic, and non-toxic dyes.
I currently own a Bighorn backpack which my husband has stolen and really likes. It has a pocket for everything!
I had wanted a bag to use when my purse isn’t big enough and their Lynx bag is perfect! It has pockets for water bottles, room for my laptop, a zippered pouch, and tons of room.
I love that it’s made from organic cotton, non-toxic dyes, and sustainable wood components. I have been able to try it out a few times now. Just last weekend took it to a zoo and it was perfect for carrying my purse, a water bottle, and reusable bags. There was lots of room left over.
Whatever your bag need be sure to check them out. Their kids bags are super cute! The prices are also very good. You are sure to love their bags.
Product Review: ACT Dye
| September 26, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
I stopped dying my hair awhile ago in order to rid myself of more chemicals. I still use Sun-In some as the ingredients aren’t bad but if you have used Sun-In you know it’s not the same as dying. I don’t dye my hair to cover grey but to lighten it. I honestly miss my light blonde hair a lot.
So I was happy when I was able to test out some natural hair dye from Advanced Cosmetic Technologies (ACT). While it didn’t get my hair nearly as light as I used to dye it, it did lighten it and the best thing is it evened out my color. Since it was close to my natural color as it fades you can’t really tell which is great.
ACT’s hair dyes are 100% plant based. The dye is also vegan-friendly. They offer 13 shades and they all have a low environmental impact.
Even the packaging is environmentally friendly. The carton and insert materials are made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper and 80% post-consumer waste. They use soy-based inks using energy generated by wind power. The products are also cruelty-free with NO testing on animals.
You can get ACT dye at select and online on www.actnaturals.com.
Beautiful Song
| September 25, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
I rarely post religious stuff since there are people of different faiths reading my blog. But this song is beautiful no matter your faith. It has to be it’s Sufjan Stevens.
I have been listening to this song and other Sufjan Stevens as I have been having a bad week due to personal issues. Music like this is good for the soul and this video is awesome as well.
The Power Of Words
| September 24, 2009 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
While this is not on topic with being green it is about blogging.
I think all of us use our blogs to vent at times (or always) and that can be very healthy and good. And most blogs I see never name names and are kind when venting. The problem is this does not always hold true.
Both in the blog world and the real world we all say things we shouldn’t. We don’t always think before we speak but it should be a bit easier in blogging as you have to type it out and push “publish.”
I think most of us re-read our blogs before posting. We have to think more about what we are putting out there on our blogs than when we just speak. So why is it I still run across so many hurtful things? Sometimes the whole blog is hate speech, such as many I have found that are down right racist and/or homophobic, but others it will be one post within an otherwise nice blog.
Is it because people forget the person/persons they are talking about may read it? I try and remember when writing that anyone can see what I write. And sure I screw up and write things I likely shouldn’t have but I try and others don’t always seem to.
Words are one of the most powerful things we have. They can bring every emotion to us and others. They can have a lasting impact, sometimes good and other times bad.
I’ve been hurt many times by what people have written on the net. I have had lies posted about me, friends and family publicly tell me how I have the wrong faith and I need to “come to Jesus”, I’ve had people tell me I’m stupid due to my socially liberal views, etc… I happen to take these things harder than some people, I know that. But all of us get hurt at times. It’s very hard when it comes from people you love. But it’s still hard at times when it’s from people you can’t stand.
So I bring this challenge to all of you, think before you type. Remember there are real people behind that computer screen. I leave you with some wise words of advice.
