Happy Almost New Year!
| December 31, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
I promise to post more about my trip later today or tomorrow but I don’t feel like getting the memory stick with the pictures at the moment. Lazy I know but it’s a holiday and such I can be lazy!
Anyway I thought I would post some of my “green” goals for this coming year. You can watch and see how I do.
1. Organize my house and keep it that way. (already well on the way of doing that)
2. Finish losing weight. (hopefully the meds my doctor switched me to will get rid of that nasty side effect of me gaining weight)
3. Start an organic garden. (the first step is done)
4. Learn to better use my composter. (It doesn’t smell so I think that means I’m doing okay with keeping enough brown material with green…)
5. Knit more.
6. Finish teaching myself to crochet.
7. Get ahead in my Blissfully Domestic and Got2begreen.com posts.
8. Go to most of the local recycling coalition meetings and join at the next one.
9. Make reading list and finish at least a 1/3 of it.
10. Organize something “green” for my brother’s group “Change Now” to do.
11. Find a local clothes closet and take clothes to them.
12. Spend more time outside.
13. Help more people learn how to go green.
14. Do an energy audit on my house.
15. Plant butterfly attracting flowers.
16. Remember to take a reusable container to restaurant to bring home leftovers.
17. Use the local library more.
18. If local dairy goes organic this year write them a letter thanking them for making the change.
19. Find local businesses to talk to about using more green practices.
20. Get more involved in grassroots campaigns for green issues.
I’m sure I could come up with more but I think that is a pretty good list. I tag all of you to do the same on here if you don’t do this kind of thing on your blog or on your own blog!
I think my footprint grew today…

I’m in Texas right now. My husband was looking at some stores online today and decided rather than having some items shipped that we would take a little trip down to Texas (closest stores to us). We had been wanting to take a little trip during his break and he found a nice hotel with a great deal so we packed and got ready in less than an hour and left at 4 p.m. haha
We got here around 7 p.m. I think? We checked in to the hotel, it’s very nice. Not green sadly but nice. We then tried to go to the mall to have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory but it took us forever to park (like 20 minutes or so) and then it was a 50 minute wait and it was like 8 pm so we didn’t want to wait so we went to the food court. (ewww!) I went to the only place I knew for sure didn’t have mushrooms as I’m very allergic to them. That place is Sonic… not healthy and not eco. I wanted to ask for no bag and no napkins but the guy couldn’t hear me so I left the napkins on the table un-used hoping someone would use them at least.
Anyway, there have been some green parts. I got some Victoria’s Secret organic panties for 50% off! I got 7 pairs for $45! Very exciting to me. Also my husband got a recycled basket ball made by Wilson for his kids at school to play with. We saw a car with stuff about being green all over it, it was for a green building company. Wanted to get a picture but didn’t have my camera.. crap!
We got organic food at Target to eat in the room so hopefully I won’t feel to sick. We are also going to try and go to Chipotle for lunch tomorrow.
I did also order some made in the USA organic clothes before we left. So not a totally un-eco day but not great either.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!
Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone has a very merry Christmas. Stay safe while you travel. And remember it’s not about the gifts but the people. Cherish your time with your friends and family. And stay green this Christmas. Save gift bags and recycle.
May God bless you all!
Save Handmade Kids Items!

If you love Etsy.com and other sites that sale eco-friendly handmade items you need to read this sites info- www.handmadetoyalliance.org
A new law (CPSIA) may mean you can’t get those items you love anymore for your kids. It’s a good idea, keep lead and other harmful items out of our kids toys but it will put small businesses out of business.
You can also read more on this law on The Smart Mama’s blog.

Christmas Recycled Craft
| December 18, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
We sent out recycled Christmas cards this year from Bumbleink.com. Sticking with the recycled theme I made snowflake seals from magazines.
It was very easy. Just took catalogs out of my recycle bin and punched out snowflakes with a snowflake punch I have.
All you have to do is find clothes, backgrounds, whatever that is the size of your punch and then glue them to the back of the card. Took only a few minutes to get a few dozen snowflakes.
And here is the finished product.

Product Review: 90210 Organics
| December 17, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
90210 Organics was started by two moms in California. They have a passion for living natural and want to share it with the world.
I was able to try out the Golden Earth ‘Illumination’ Unscented Massage Lotion. Who doesn’t love a good massage? Unlike some massage lotions I didn’t find this to leave my skin oily just soft. I love that it comes unscented as I’m allergic to so many scents. It comes in two sizes, 8 ½ ounces or a 64 ounce bottle!
They review every product they sell. They are all made in the US or fair trade and sustainable. The companies have to be eco-friendly as well. So you can feel good about things you buy from 90210 Organics.
In looking on the site I have found many products to go on my wish list. Such as the beautiful Pure-Rest Organic Cotton towels, tons of the clothing items, the Sustainable Threads Soft Cover Eco Note Books, and so much more! I could spend hours and hundreds of dollars on this site.
I’m sure you will find lots of products you love on this site!
