Product Review: Vinegar of the Four Thieves
| September 29, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
My husband is a public school teacher so he brings lots of germs home. Due to that, I need a good disinfectant but I don’t want a toxic one. This has been something hard to find, until now. For My Kids sales this wonderful all natural disinfectant called, Vinegar of the Four Thieves. Which contains elecampane which has been shown to even kill the superbug (MRSA) in exposure tests!
They use high-quality, certified organic herbs and spices with white distilled vinegar. You can use it on all kinds of things.
It’s not the best smelling thing in the world but it fades quickly. This stuff got to my house just in time. I got a nasty cold as did my husband so I went around the house cleaning everything with it. My in-laws (whom I live with) didn’t get the cold! While I can’t run tests on it that seems like a very good sign.
One of the best parts is it comes in glass! Now it’s a spray bottle so that part is plastic but still it’s much less plastic. And the cobalt blue glass protects the potency of the herbs. You can get a plastic bottle, which I guess would only be good for people with little kids but you could just put it where they can’t get to it.
This is a product I plan to keep buying for sure! For My Kids sales many other natural products you need to be sure to check out as well!
Halloween green style
| September 29, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |

Halloween seems to be a holiday full of cheap plastic crap, just ask Fake Plastic Fish. But it doesn’t have to be full of toxic plastic for you and your family. I have my fair share of plastic decorations but they are from last year or before and they are being reused of course. So here are some tips for greening Halloween.
Trick or Treat:
Have your kids reverse trick or treat. Have them hand out fair trade chocolate to the neighbors with a card on them talking about environmental issues and why you should buy fair trade chocolate.
To make up for the kids not getting candy while trick or treating make yummy homemade treats and give them there own fair trade chocolate.
Throw a party with homemade treats and eco-friendly candy for your kids and friends so they don’t even care about trick or treating.

Send them trick or treating with this super cute ChicoBag from greenfeet.com.
Costumes:
Go to Goodwill and have your kids help design there own costume from things you find.
If they really need that costume of a favorite character make sure it’s high quality so it can be passed to another kid next year or maybe even worn again by your child.
Sew your own with natural fibers, better yet organic fibers.
Decorations:
Get a local pumpkin to carve and save the inside to cook with.

Buy this super cute, eco-friendly, and reusable Jack-o-Lantern from greenfeet.com.
Use LED lights as they use a lot less power to run.
Use orange and black beeswax or soy candles.
Make eco-friendly halloween crafts with the kids.
Use some non-toxic window paints to decorate your windows.
Serve candy or cookies in a glass pumpkin.

You don’t own the rain, the state does?
| September 26, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
That has to be one of the dumbest things I have heard in a long time. I understand taking water from streams being a problem because of people down stream but rain water?!
I don’t know if this is just in Utah or not. I plan to do some research on that and post again after I find out.
I think I will put my rain barrel when I get one in my backyard just in case. This makes me mad as a environmentalist but also as a Libertarian.
So do you have a rain barrel? Did you know it maybe illegal?
Thanks to Sommer (Green and Clean Mom) for bring this up on “5 Minutes For Going Green.”
Product Review: 100% Hemp Reusable Produce Bags
| September 24, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
We don’t want to put those plastic produce bags in our reusable bags right? So what do you do? Sure the produce needs washed anyway so you could just put it in your cart but it may fall out or get lost in everything else. So these produce bags will come in handy!
They are made of 100% hemp which is a great plant that is very easy to grow and a very renewable resource. This hemp is even organic. Even the bag they come in is made from 100% organic cotton! I love the tag that came on it that talks about the cotton and hemp being organic and how it’s handled. That is the kind of thing that keeps me buying from a company.
I got to review the small pouch with five bags. I love the pouch they fit in, it keeps them all together so you can find them with ease. The size of the bags is great. The bags are big enough for things like bananas.
I shopped with these bags this month and they are so easy to use! With the pouch there was no digging through my huge shopping bag with all my other shopping bags looking for them. They also seem very strong and even are washable which is a huge thing for me.
The only downside for me is that they are made in China but the tag does say it’s fair wage/fair labor so it’s a very small con.
They are light weight but a bit heavier than the plastics so it can add weight to your produce but not a lot.
This is just another easy way to make a big difference in our world! They cost $29.50 which for five bags and a carrying pouch is a very good deal!
And guess what?! The very nice founder and president of All Green Things, Tanya Peel has been kind enough to offer a discount to my readers.
The discount is good for the small and large hemp produce bags in a bag, the colored hemp reusable produce bags, and the natural hemp produce bags. The code is good until 10/23/08 and will get you 15% off of the above products. Just use the discount code: retro08 at check out.
Be sure to check out all the products at All Green Things as they have some wonderful things to help you and your family go green.

Product Review: Envirosax
| September 21, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |

I love reusable shopping bags. They are such a big way to go green and there are so many cute ones out there. I always have one or two in my purse. So when I got to review the Envirosax bags I was very excited.
These bags come in some really cute designs. They are great for purses and cars because they roll up to a small size and have little straps to secure the bag in it’s small size. They hold about as much as two normal plastic shopping bags. They are waterproof and very strong.
I have used mine a dozen or so times and they hold a lot and even with a lot of weight they were easier to hold than a plastic bag and a lot stronger. I have had many people tell me how cute they are. They are also very easy to re-roll when ready to store them.
The bags come in a lot of styles.
The Organic Series come in three fabrics, bamboo, linen and hemp. Each fabric comes in different designs.
The Graphic Series is full of very cute bags. You can buy one at a time or little 5-in-1 pouches for easy storage. I got to try the Mikado Bag 2 in this series.
The Kids Series is a series for kids. They are a bit smaller than the Graphic Series but still hold a lot! They have six very cute bags for kids. I tried the Piggy In The Middle. No I don’t have kids which just proves you don’t have to be a kid to use these bags either.

The Greengrocer Series is a more basic bag, coming in lots of beautiful colors.
The bags hold up to between 22-44 lbs depending on the bag. With all the styles and colors you are sure to find a bag you will love. They even have more manly colors for the guys wanting to go green.
I will be buying more bags from this company in the future! They are a little pricey but I think because of how strong they are, the design, the wonderful colors and styles make them worth it.
Be sure to check out Envirosax! And be watching for a giveaway from them next week!
