He Has Risen!

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” Mathew 28:5-6

How much longer will this killing go on? We aren’t safer and we forgot about Bin Laden. Support the troops, stop letting them die for Bush/Cheney’s war and bring them home to there families before we lose more!
I try and keep politics out of this blog and put them in my other blog-

But I believe today is a sad day that needs looked at more.
Works For Me Wednesday
| March 19, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |

What works for me is www.professorgio.com . I learned basic Italian while homeschooling but have forgotten most of it so I’m trying to re-learn it. My goal is to read and understand it, I really don’t care to speak it. I would love to watch my favorite movie “Life Is Beautiful” and not need the subtitles.
This year I’m really trying to learn a lot of new things. I’m learning to knit more (I can only do one stitch so far), crochet, sew (by hand) and more things like that. After I get to where I’m happy with my Italian I want to learn basic dutch because I’m 1/16th dutch, plus who knows dutch? I like being different. Everyone around here learns French and Spanish so in high school I took up Italian.
Anyway if you want to learn Italian I really like the site above and it’s free.
Fibromyalgia
| March 18, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
I have been having a bit of a Fibro flare so thought I should post this blog I wrote awhile ago. It says below but I will say it again, this isn’t for you to feel sorry for me, it’s for awareness.
People always ask me about Fibromyalgia so I’m writing a blog about it. I have before but not much is known about this rare illness and there is new info all the time so it needs updated. By the way May 11th-13th is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day(s)! (This is not me wanting you to feel sorry for me! This is about teaching people about Fibromyalgia)
Fibromyalgia (fye-bro-my-AL-gee-ah) is an arthritis-related condition that is characterized by generalized muscular pain and fatigue. The term “Fibromyalgia” means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons. This condition is referred to as a “syndrome” because it’s a set of signs and symptoms that occur together.
Here are the symptoms I have-
Widespread pain
I have pain in all parts of my body. On a good day I just ache but it can be a stabbing pain also. Another type of pain I have that is really bad is burning pain. It feels like my body is on fire.
Fatigue
This isn’t like the normal tired that people has from working too much. I’m always tired. Here is what a site says about fibro fatigue-
“In today’s world many people complain of fatigue; however, the fatigue of FM is much more than being tired. It is an all-encompassing exhaustion that interferes with even the simplest daily activities. It feels like every drop of energy has been drained from the body, which at times can leave the patient with a limited ability to function both mentally and physically.”
Sleep Disorders
Most nights I’m so tired I fall right to sleep but I have something called “alpha-EEG anomaly.” The deep level of sleep (stage 4) is constantly interrupted by bursts of awake-like brain activity. At times I have insomnia as well. I pretty much dream all night long.
(Got tired of typing out what each things is so if you have questions feel free to ask)
Irritable Bowel
Chronic Headaches
Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Syndrome
Premenstrual syndrome and painful periods
Chest pain (not anything to do with my heart)
Morning stiffness
Cognitive or memory impairment
Numbness and tingling sensations
Muscle twitching
The feeling of swollen extremities
Skin sensitivities and rashes
Dry eyes and mouth
Dizziness
Impaired coordination
Anxiety
Tender lymph nodes (in arm pits and neck)
Allergies
Night sweats
Cold extremities (mostly feet, they turn a pretty shade of purple)
Heart palpitations
Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar attacks, very mild so far)
Muscle weakness
Lightheadedness; feeling “spaced out”
Inability to think clearly (“brain fog”)
Vertigo
Tinnitus
Photophobia (sensitivity to light)
Noise intolerance (high pitched noises make me sick)
Feeling spatially disoriented
Changes in visual acuity
Difficulty with accommodation (switching focus from one thing to another)
Sensitivities to medications
Sensitivities to odors
Sensitivities to foods
Stomach ache; abdominal cramps
Esophageal reflux
Hair loss (mild and off and on)
Raynaud’s syndrome
Restless Leg
Multiple Chemical Sensitivities
One part of Fibromyalgia for a lot of people is allergies/sensitivities, here is my list of allergies and things I’m sensitive to.
Mushrooms (deathly allergy)
Eggs
Milk
Yellow Dye #5
MSG
Chocolate
Almost all chemicals (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities)
Smoke
Ragweed
Pollens
Mold
Evergreen trees
With these problems when I walk by chemicals or people smoking you may see me cover my mouth and nose, I don’t want to be rude but this stuff makes me really sick.
Some Facts About Fibromyalgia:
“According to the National Foundation for Fibromyalgia, as many as 12 million Americans suffer from FM but remain undiagnosed because of its elusive nature. Fibromyalgia is most common in women between the ages of 20 and 50, although it also affects men, the elderly, and children. Children with FM are often mistakenly diagnosed with growing pains or behavioral problems, and FM is commonly mistaken for chronic fatigue syndrome since the symptoms of the two diseases are so similar.”
“Although fibromyalgia is difficult to diagnosis because its symptoms are common to various other disorders, its primary symptoms are generalized musculoskeletal pain in at least three specific sites persisting for at least three months and reproducible tenderness in at least six specific points throughout the body. Constant interruption of the deep delta sleep needed for the rest and restoration of the body is also a common ailment for FM sufferers as well as stiff and painful muscles when a person with FM is forced to remain immobile for any amount of time.”
“Researchers have also found that FM patients have three times the normal amount of substance P (a chemical that tells the body how much pain it feels) in their spinal fluid, as well as lower than normal levels of serotonin (a pain moderating chemical), melatonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, and other chemicals that help control pain, mood, sleep and the immune system.”
“Fibromyalgia causes no detectable damage to the tissues or to the organs of the body, but most people with FM have additional health problems. Fibromyalgia can be triggered by a traumatic event, such as an accident or an operation, changes in the weather, over-exertion, cold, dampness, drafty environments, stress, anxiety, depression, and hormonal fluctuations.”
“Central sensitization basically means an increased sensitivity to pain. A person with fibromyalgia may experience pain from stimuli that would barely be noticed by the average person. For example, most people consider shaking hands to be just a polite, friendly gesture. For a person with FM, a moderate to firm handshake can be an extremely painful experience.”
“The prognosis is hopeful. Although fibromyalgia is chronic, there is no evidence that it is degenerative. Though the symptoms will wax and wane over time, it is not ultimately fatal. That does not minimize the seriousness of the illness or the degree to which it can impact the lives of both those who suffer with it and their loved ones.”

Sick Of This Crap….
| March 18, 2008 | Posted by Lisa Sharp under Uncategorized |
One of the few shows I watch on TV is Jon & Kate Plus 8 (everything else I watch online when I have time), tonight I was baking cookies for my hubby and so I turned on the TV a bit before it came on and “The Secret Life Of A Soccer Mom” was on. I thought I would hate this show but I gave it a try. Guess what? I do hate it!It seems to say that moms should always work and it’s below women or something to not work!
What is wrong with staying home and raising your kids??? I got to see both ways in my family. I have no problem with mom’s that work but it’s not for everyone! My mom was always so tired and running on pretty much no sleep to be our mom and work as a nurse, but she was a good mom and I have no bad feelings for her working and there are parts I really liked, like going to work with her but it was very good for us to have her quit and stay home with us and homeschool us.
Again I have no problem with mom’s who work. BUT why is it bad for mom’s or wifes not to? The thing that really made me mad is when the family talked about how they had always planned for the mom to stay home with the kids and when the dad said this the female cop (his wife was a cop for the day) went on this long very rude rant about how she can do it all and crap. He said he doesn’t want his wife to see the things he has to see (he is a cop) and she gets very pissed off at him. OH MY GOSH! So a man is trying to take care of his wife and family but that is a bad thing?!
And we wonder why kids are so badly behaved now and we have such a large number of divorces. Mom’s are over worked, men are abused, we no longer have families just people who live together and schools and daycares raise the kids.
I stay at home, I have no kids, I own my own business, I cook and clean all day and I love it! In turn for the respect and care I give my husband he gives me the love I need and will do anything for me. If I say I want some ice cream there will be ice cream.
Some of the things girls will do to there man now would be abuse if the men did it to the women. But some how we get held to a different standard. I watch TV and feel bad for the men and how there wives treat them. I love to watch Jon and Kate Plus 8 but sometimes I really hate how Kate treats Jon but I’m sure that what they show is them at there worse most of the time but still, she seems to have a lot of trouble not treating him like a child. I can’t stand the way so many wives/girlfriends act these days and the double standard we have for women.
Well that is enough ranting, no to hope no feminist read this blog. I believe women are equal to men but we are different! And equal doesn’t mean above!
Thankful Thursday
